Hi all, a gal named Beth has a blog and is doing a detox too. I checked it out – slightlty different than mine, but may inspire those who don’t what exactly what I am doing:
her blog is www.confessionsofafoodie.com.
For those who want more details about MY detox guidelines, check this out:
Days 1-3:
What’s in: green veggies 2x/day, daily consumption of beats (at least 4x/week overe the next two weeks), beans (organic), any other veggie, any herbs/spices that are natural (no chemical laden mixes), green apples, pomegranate, lemon/lime, grapefruit, berries, rice protein or hemp protein ( I prefer rice), avocados, sweet potatoes/turnips/parsnips, a small amount of rice milk, extra virgin olive oil, high oleic safflower oil, coconut oil (the good kind), flax, garbanzo beans/hummus
What’s out: any flours or grains, any animal proteins/dairy, fruits other than what is listed, potatoes, corn chocolate of any kind, nuts, soy products, caffeine, sugar
Why: the first three days really give the body a chance to eat only what is VERY easy to digest. One should have a decent working colon when beginning a cleanse, so you can use the increased fiber/simple foods to keep with the body flushing. However, its not uncommon to be consitpated at first too
Days 3-14: Adding in organic eggs and fish, as well as 2-3 servings of rice or quinoa after day 7. My body doesn’t do grains well, so I try to avoid as much as possible
In addition, I take these supplements:
Omega 3: Nordic Naturals brand
250 mg Magnesium
2-3,000 IU Vitamin D
A liver detox complex w/ turmeric, nettles, milk thistle
a probiotic: Nature’s Way brand
a TON of water – like 2x/ what I normally drink
2-3 oz/day of a green juice that I make, or I purchase or my friend A. makes for me!
herbal tea, like Good Earth and Peppermint – my two favs!
Thanks for the shout out about my detox post. I wish I only had to go on a detox for 3 days, I’m on day 8 and only 6 to go. My husband has lost 9 pounds since the beginning of this thing. For him, that was all of his holiday weight gain and more.
Vegan detox definately sounds more difficult. At least I get to have chicken.
Keep up the great posts!!
Beth
